Thank You From Frugal Mom Jenn

July 29th, 2010 5 comments

I’m so sad to say this will be my last post for Frugal Mom Jenn. I have decided to pursue a local small business opportunity and, unfortunately, it won’t allow me time to maintain my site in addition to being a full-time mommy. I am definitely going to miss this and am so thankful for all the support I have gotten from friends, family and a growing readership!

Thank you all so much,

Jenn

Review: My Shutterfly Experience

July 26th, 2010 No comments

For those of you who may not be familiar with Shutterfly, it is a one-stop, personal photo store.  You can design and order Holiday CardsThank You Cards and Birthday Party Invitations or just have your digital prints made into hard copies that are mailed back to you.

I’ve done all of those things, but my favorite experience with Shutterfly was when I created luggage tags for each family member before we went away on vacation. I used pictures of each of the girls’ favorite toy or “lovey” to put on each tag. The girls absolutely love them and they made it so easy to find our luggage on the carousel at the airport, especially when everyone seems to have the same black suitcases!

Check out Shutterfly’s website and some of the great specials they currently have going on:

  • Free shipping on orders of $30 or more [Enter code SHIP30 at checkout]
  • Save up to 30% on photo books
  • Get up to 60 free prints when you create a photo sharing site

Family Time: NY Liberty WNBA Basketball at MSG an A+

July 6th, 2010 No comments

On June 27th we had a wonderful time attending a New York Liberty WNBA Basketball Game where we watched them square off against the Connecticut Sun at Madison Square Garden. It was our 3-year-old’s first time at a live, indoor sporting event, so while my husband and I were excited about watching the game ourselves, we were equally as excited about her experience that day. What great exposure to healthy competition, team spirit and positive role models, all packaged into one of America’s favorite sport pastimes!

We watched an exciting game while enjoying soda and Cracker Jacks. It’s something that we’d definitely do again, and I think our 2-year-old will be ready to go, too, next year!

If you’d like to purchase tickets and experience the WNBA’s exciting, affordable, family-friendly entertainment, go here to get 20% off Liberty tickets plus enjoy FREE popcorn and soda!   You will need to create an account first, and then use the promo code WNBABLOG when you purchase your tickets. I know you’ll have fun, too, but feel free to comment with any questions you may have!

Disclosure: The One2One Network generously provided us with (5) tickets for our family to attend the game at MSG and review our experience. I was in no way compensated for my review and all opinions are strictly my own.

Calling All Crafty Readers: Recycled Baby Food Jars

July 5th, 2010 4 comments

"Hmmm....what to do....what to do...."

I’ve been accumulating Earth’s Best baby food jars with the intention of turning them into something useful. I’m just not sure what all of the possibilities are, and was hoping I had some “crafty” readers to help.

So my question is, what can I do to re-use these cute glass jars? Any ideas?

Menu Plan Monday 7/5 – 7/11

July 5th, 2010 1 comment

The girls and I always love when we get an extra day with Daddy, and today is one of them! It gave me the opportunity to make some homemade BBQ sauce for grilling in the evening. I only hope it cools down – we’re in the low 90′s here in Northern N.J. right now. As for the rest of the week, I’m focusing on recipes that avoid using the oven!

New to menu planning? Find out why it will save you a lot more money every week, with little effort.

MondayHomemade BBQ Sauce on Grilled Chicken Drumsticks (on sale for $0.79/lb. last week), simple cold pasta salad of macaroni, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, onion powder and peas.

Tuesday – Leftover barbecued drumsticks and salad.

Wednesday – Crock Pot: Snack Mix Recipe. I’ve been wanting to get rid of some of the cereal stockpiled in the pantry! I’m sure the girls will love this for snacktime.

Thursday – Soup from the pantry and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Friday – Breakfast for dinner.

SaturdayGrilling a whole chicken.

Sunday – A Day Out With Thomas today with good friends!

I’m a Buzzmama!

July 5th, 2010 2 comments

I have been accepted as a Mabel’s Labels Buzzmama! It’s a fun and rewarding program that allows me to try out Mabel’s Labels products and talk about them with friends, family and readers. I also receive coupons to pass along to all the people I buzz with.

As part of the program I received a Welcome Kit, which contained some Classic Sticky Labels that I had personalized for my oldest daughter who loves pink and bumblebees. I used them to label two of her sippy cups the other day when we went to a huge 4th of July BBQ. We actually misplaced one, but because it was labeled it made its way back to us yesterday. How perfect is that?

Go to the Mabel’s Labels website here to check out their Baby Labels, Waterproof Labels, Allergy Labels and even Iron-On Labels. A fantastic idea for this time of year would be getting labels for all the things your child is bringing to Summer Camp.  Let me know if you’d like a coupon or more information!

Disclosure: As stated above, I am part of a program through Mabel’s Labels called “Buzzmama,” and I receive free items in exchange for spreading the word about their great products.
