Frugal Mom Methods

Before I had children I was a last-minute grocery store shopper. Usually on my drive home from work I would think about what I wanted to make for dinner and make a mental note of the things I would need once I got to the store. I rarely used coupons and if I did they were usually the “peelies” you get off the product you are about to buy! Now I know how much money I wasted by doing this, but it wasn’t until kids came into the picture that I realized I would have to find a new method of shopping that would stretch our hard-earned dollars further so that I could do what I wanted most – stay home with our children.
That’s when I found couponing and became obsessed. It opened up a whole new world to me and showed me that saving money doesn’t have to equate with “doing without,” “cutting corners” or always buying the “store brand.” (I must note here that I had a lot of misconceptions about “store brand” items. Some have changed and some have not.) In any case, I also became obsessed with wanting to teach others what I, myself, was learning.

Frugal Mom Jenn is the way I now share what deals I find and what I’ve learned (and continue to learn!) about saving money for my family. I am starting this weekly Frugal Mom Methods post to help pass along the things that have saved us the most money as well as the new things I try in order to save even more. You can expect lots of information on saving money at the grocery store, my favorite money-saving method, as well as other things I’ve been working on that can have a significant impact on your own bottom line. Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll share your experiences, too!
